INCOGA was responsible for the comprehensive execution of the new Casa Sana Studio boutique gym, located in the centre of A Coruña.
The original premises, covering more than 300 m2, required two specific interventions to adapt it to its new use. On the one hand, the exercise rooms were soundproofed with a double acoustic ceiling consisting of a floating system of plasterboard and high-density rock wool. On the other hand, the façade had to be restored to its original state, as it is listed as a protected heritage site. To this end, a replica was made on site using artificial terrazzo stone, black-coloured mortar and polished marble aggregate. The exterior carpentry is made of iroko wood lacquered in a burgundy tone.
In the spacious, open-plan entrance area, which serves as the reception, there are three arched openings made of plasterboard, into which a metal mesh panel has been integrated as a decorative element, partially concealing the cloakroom and shoe storage area. A wave-shaped wall, built on site, hints at the descent to the basement; a fountain clad in exclusive Campaspero limestone; and the black varnished iron counter are other distinctive features of this room.
On this main floor, a striking vaulted corridor, constructed using plasterboard, leads to the Bicy room, characterised by black walls covered with mirrors, a stepped floor covered with technical carpet, and ‘spectacular lighting’ with multicoloured lights.
The basement houses the Barre room, with natural oak laminate flooring and two storage areas with backlit shelves. It also houses the changing rooms, with several consecutive shower cubicles clad in ochre ceramic tiles and mirrored doors on the outside. The women's changing area has two pieces of furniture made of compact marble with mitred pieces. The washbasin area has a single large basin with three taps and, in twin form, a dressing table area with a countertop made of the same material. At the front, mirrors framed with a plasterboard arch feature indirect lighting using flexible LED strips.
Continuous decorative flooring was installed throughout the entire space, with the exception of the activity rooms, and the doors are flush with the wall, giving them an ‘invisible’ appearance.
