Wonderland, the new initiative from the MOP Foundation, is back to put A Coruña on the map as an international hub for art, culture, and fashion. It's the first big retrospective in Spain for legendary American photographer Annie Leibovitz.
Wonderland displays a bold, sober and minimalist aesthetic, defined by organic textures, pure volumes and the prominence of white. The exhibition, conceived as a handcrafted and innovative installation, creates a rigorous but intimate atmosphere, far from solemnity, designed so that visitors can focus fully on the works.
INCOGA's intervention
INCOGA was responsible for the comprehensive adaptation of the existing exhibition space to house the new exhibition, paying meticulous attention to every detail throughout all phases of the process.
Among the most significant actions was the construction of a new grandstand attached to the swimming pool, located in the central area of the complex. This piece is configured as a stepped staircase made of reinforced concrete, similar to the existing one, built using separate layers for each step. This intervention creates a new level for visitors to stand and observe, optimising the visual relationship with the sea and reinforcing the overall perception of the exhibition space and the landscape.
Inside, the execution of a unique exhibition support on which the works are displayed stands out. It is made of particle boards obtained from industrial fibre waste and certified under the Circular by Design seal. These panels have undergone a specific treatment that gives them an intentionally aged finish, in keeping with the aesthetics of the exhibition.
The photographs are mechanically attached to this support and protected by cast methacrylate sheets, a material with high optical purity and transparency that guarantees optimal viewing of the works.
