INCOGA concludes its involvement in ‘Wonderland’, Annie Leibovitz's first major retrospective in Spain

A Coruña, November 2025. INCOGA has completed Wonderland, the new initiative from the MOP Foundation that once again positions A Coruña as an international benchmark in art, culture and fashion. This is the first major retrospective in Spain of the renowned American photographer Annie Leibovitz, a key figure in contemporary visual creation and winner of the Prince of Asturias Award in 2013.

Wonderland displays a bold, sober and minimalist aesthetic, defined by organic textures, pure volumes and the prominence of white. The exhibition, conceived as a handcrafted and innovative installation, creates a rigorous but intimate atmosphere, far from solemnity, designed to allow visitors to focus fully on the works.

INCOGA's intervention

INCOGA was responsible for the comprehensive adaptation of the existing exhibition space to house the new exhibition, paying meticulous attention to every detail throughout all phases of the process.

Among the most significant actions was the construction of a new grandstand attached to the swimming pool, located in the central area of the complex. This piece is configured as a stepped staircase made of reinforced concrete, similar to the existing one, built using separate layers for each step. This intervention creates a new level for visitors to stand and observe, optimising the visual relationship with the sea and reinforcing the overall perception of the exhibition space and the landscape.

Inside, the execution of a unique exhibition support on which the works are displayed stands out. It is made of particle boards obtained from industrial fibre waste and certified under the Circular by Design seal. These panels have undergone a specific treatment that gives them an intentionally aged finish, in keeping with the aesthetics of the exhibition.

The photographs are mechanically attached to this support and protected by cast methacrylate sheets, a material with high optical purity and transparency that guarantees optimal viewing of the works.

An immersive journey through 50 years of photography

The sixth unique project at the MOP centre immerses visitors in Annie Leibovitz's 50-year career through more than a hundred photographs, some of which have never been seen before.

The journey begins with her early years as a documentary photographer, during which she photographed music icons such as Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.

Another highlight focuses on her work for iconic international magazines such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Vanity Fair, where she built a powerful visual imagery inspired by stories such as The Wizard of Oz and Alice in Wonderland. Her portraits of Penélope Cruz, Rihanna and Zendaya stand out in this area.

MOP, a landmark centre refurbished by INCOGA

Following the acclaimed exhibitions Untold Stories, by Peter Lindbergh, in 2021; Steven Meisel 1993 - A Year in Photographs, in 2022; Helmut Newton - Fact & Fiction, in 2023; Irving Penn: Centennial, in 2024; and David Bailey's Changing Fashion, in 2025; Wonderland is the sixth major initiative promoted by the MOP Foundation in this renowned exhibition centre refurbished by INCOGA, following the conversion of old silos and an industrial warehouse into a cultural space that today enjoys great international renown.
